Potts makes its AGFA Violet units chemical-free

A Potts Printers product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Nov 10, 2008

Potts has introduced the first phase of upgrades to its AGFA Avalon computer-to-plate machinery, which has involved making its AGFA Violet units chemical-free.

This development has helped Potts to fulfil the ISO14001 commitment.

A C95 unit that can operate in a normal daylight setting and a thermal processor that utilises the AGFA Azura 2 thermally imaged printing plate has replaced an LP82 unit.

The AGFA Azura 2 plate is claimed to be the only plate in the pre-press consumables market that doesn't need chemical processing.

This has removed the need for a developer or fixative.

Ian White, Potts's pre-press manager, said: 'We were using more than 12,000 litres of chemicals each year with the previous configuration.

'The upgrade means we are more time and cost efficient in processing plates and are making a big step towards our environmental commitment.'.
