Following a highly successful preview at Digital Print World, Positive Focus is pleased to announce the immediate availability of uImage 1.0 from XMPie.

uImage automates complex Photoshop actions applied to variable images and type, and is controlled by uDirect Professional.

This allows designers to create images, using the full range of familiar Photoshop features, that include variable images and text.

It is possible to include multiple variables within a single image so there is much greater flexibility than proprietary picture in picture solutions.

'The results are just jaw dropping,' said Alan Dixon of Positive Focus, speaking at Digital Print World, 'for the first time at a show we've had people wanting to buy a product on the stand.

'You are not getting a pre-programmed image, the end result is down to the Photoshop skills of the individual designer'.

Images created in uImage are conventional Photoshop documents, so can be integrated into any VDP software.

The synergy with uDirect Professional, XMPie's dual desktop VDP solution, and the server-based PersonalEffect cross-media publishing platform, provides simple, transparent image linking, maintaining the ease of use that has been a hallmark of XMPie's software all along.

uImage is a PC-based application, but the creative design of the original Photoshop document can take place on a Mac.

It costs £1500, is compatible with Adobe Photoshop CS2 and requires a copy of uDirect Professional on each workstation.

Following the successful launch, Positive Focus will be running a series of Open Days to promote uImage and the new versions of other XMPie solutions.

Details will be posted on the company's website.
