Because of its work to increase recycled and sustainable paper use, Proco has been accredited by The Forest Stewardship Council and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Council.

Proco's investment in technology and training to promote environmental responsibility amongst its staff and customers, was also said to be a significant factor in both awards.

Both organisations have recognised the Sheffield (UK) printer, Proco, for its dedication to promoting sustainable paper products.

Proco marketing director, Jon Bailey, said: "Achieving these accreditations is the result of a serious business commitment to being responsible in the way we work with these increasingly scarce resources.

We are championing the management of the world's forests by promoting to our clients the benefits of using recycled and sustainable forest paper products." And he added: "In an industry renowned for such vast paper consumption and waste, we felt it was important to stand up and be counted.

This has translated in to the adoption of working practices, such as strict traceability systems and buying policies." The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Council is an independent, non-profit organisation promoting sustainably managed forests and enabling purchasers of wood and paper products to identify goods from those forests.

The Forest Stewardship Council is an international organisation that promotes the responsible stewardship of the world's forests.
