Printing its first job within 24 hours of being awarded a new contract with the UK's Labour Party, Sheffield's Proco sealed a competitive bid process.

The deal to produce the political party's print and direct mail work means that ProCo will share the Labour Party print projects with the organisation's incumbent printer, Elanders Hindson of Newcastle.

Proco has now also carried out fulfilment for the deputy leadership ballot to all Labour Party members.

The company beat an initial field of dozens of printers from around the UK to win the contract.

As Proco's key account manager, Matt Emmott said: "This is a highly prestigious contract and it is set to become one of our largest.

Although there is no agreed annual spend, this contract will see Proco supply a full range of services, from litho to digital print and from direct mail to fulfilment, with the main focus being digital print." He explained: "We have invested very seriously in digital print technology and this played a big part in winning the contract.

We also discussed our own ideas with the client about how to improve the messages that are given to potential voters and to increase voter numbers.

As with any business, this client needs to communicate clearly so the target audience understands the message and is engaged by the product.

Also, the Labour Party needs value for money and consistency and we have shown we can provide both with fully-integrated services and systems.".
