Printcity, represented by Paul Casey of Sun Chemical, will present its VAPoN value added printing of newspapers project findings at the Intertech-PIRA 'Ink on Paper' two-day conference.

The conference at Jurys Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin (Ireland) on December 6.

'VAPoN' is a newspaper product that is claimed to have a visible quality difference to standard coldset that is recognised by readers and advertisers and capable of attracting higher revenues to the newspaper, or adding to its differentiation.

The study deals with questions including how newspaper printers and publishers can open up new business opportunities to increase their turnover, as well as how they can select materials and press equipment that meet their future needs best and as economically as possible.

Printcity said that VAPoN provides a considered assessment of both quantitative and qualitative analysis of value added printing trends, techniques, equipment and consumable materials.

The objective is to help inform and guide newspaper printers and publishers in their investment decisions.

Printcity added that the VAPoN study benefits include cross industry shared research knowledge, an analysis of technical, production and economic factors, as well as assisting informed investment planning and business growth, together with increased revenue opportunities and differentiation.

Paul Casey, the Printcity VAPoN project team leader and Sun Chemical technical service development director, commented: "VAPoN has brought together in one easily readable report an unprecedented fund of knowledge and expertise from a wide variety of sources.

It should be the first port of call for anyone considering installing value added newspaper printing equipment.

This is a great opportunity for us to present Printcity's latest project to the Irish and UK markets, following the significant interest at the Amsterdam Ifra Expo in mid-October." Printcity alliance members Adphos Eltosch, MAN Roland, MEGTEC, Sun Chemical and UPM researched and delivered the VAPoN project during this summerand autumn.

The VAPoN study is available to read in full in the new Printcity Webline Special magazine.
