Printcity, the alliance of international businesses in graphic arts, is partnering with Newstec to provide a value added newspaper printing seminar as part of Newstec, from June 11 - 12.

At newstec, the UK and Eire newspaper industry event in Brighton, Printcity said it will reveal the results of its survey in to the growing worldwide interest in value added newspaper printing.

Printcity commissioned a year-long independent study to research the economic, technical and operational aspects of the increasingly active area of newspaper publishing.

The international project involved Printcity members Adphos Eltosch, MAN Roland, MEGTEC, Sun Chemical and UPM, with assistance from Dr Tim Claypole at the University of Swansea in Wales.

The findings of the research and analysis, together with the experience of several newspaper printers and publishers will form one of the seminars at Newstec with visitors able to make an informed decision on the benefits associated with VAPoN and the impact on their businesses.

The case studies and question and answer session will answer the perennial question of what is in it for newspaper printers, added Printcity.

Sophie Ahmed, Newstec's event manager, cmmented: "We're thrilled to have the findings of such important research being presented at Newstec and this will provide a valuable and engaging seminar session.

It's also the first time in which all of the seminar sessions are free to attend, yet another reason for visiting Brighton in June to see the latest in the newspaper industry." Chairing the seminar session will be Paul Casey of Sun Chemical - project leader for the Printcity VAPoN study, who added: "We are very happy to be working with Newstec to provide such a topical and informative seminar session.

Our VAPoN study has reflected the current industry desire for more economic, production and technical knowledge, to make better informed investment decisions for value added printing." The Newstec seminar sessions provide a mixture of conference style seminars and panel discussions from UK regional newspapers, associations and suppliers.

Seminars will run on both days of the event.

The VAPoN workshop will take place on the afternoon of Monday June 11.
