'Showcase 2005' as the event is to be called will be held at the Royal Armouries on the October 6 and will provide a genuine opportunity for people in the printing industry to network with potential print buyers and learn more about their future needs, said Print Yorkshire.

Speakers at the event will include representatives from Print Industries of Northern California (PINC), an association that provides development programmes for the industry in the United States.

The PINC team will be sharing their knowledge and expertise with delegates at 'Showcase'.

In addition there will be a range of speakers from a series of different markets and industries all with the objective of providing insight in to the future and needs of the print industry and its customers.

Print Yorkshire added that the one-day event will comprise of a series of seminars and workshops for buyers of print - the aim of which will be to share insight and inspiration.

There will also an exhibition area where local printers will be able to show off their capabilities.

In addition there will be opportunities for delegates and exhibitors to network and the day will be concluded by a networking buffet at which the region's exponents of print practice will be celebrated.

Mike Hopkins of Print Yorkshire said: "We have some great speakers lining up for this event and no doubt the PINC representatives will give us a real insight in to how successful print businesses are created across the pond.

Given the US is usually some years ahead of us in these areas I think there will be some genuine opportunities for us to learn something new.

They also know how to bring the fun back in to the industry and we want to try and do that in Yorkshire and build a real community of print." Print Yorkshire is a partnership between Yorkshire Forward and the British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF) that aims to ensure that the print and printed packaging sector in Yorkshire and Humber maintains its position as a major national player, builds upon its successes and excels as the region's next key manufacturing cluster.

By sharing best practice, encouraging training and development, seeking out funding and enhancing networking opportunities Print Yorkshire said that it aims to create the most productive and profitable print region in the UK.
