Yesterday at Print Yorkshire's inaugural Showcase 2005 event in the UK, leaders in the field of print from both sides of the Atlantic reached agreement to work more closely together In doing so, according to Print Yorkshire, that includes sharing information, technology and ideas in what is increasingly a global business, which also has a significant history in the Yorkshire and Humber region, one of the UK's traditional major centres of the industry

The exhibition and conference, which welcomed top speakers from the USA and the UK, UK exhibitors and delegates, was said to be over-subscribed.

On the day, 465 delegates registered to attend and Print Yorkshire's president, Victor Watson CBE DL, chaired speaker sessions.

The speaker programme included Jim Frey, executive vice president of Printing Industries of Northern California (PINC), Margi Dana, a leading US printing industry commentator, writer and herslef a former corporate print buyer with a large company, as well as sessions led by Watt-Gilchrist and the Robert Horne Group.

Print Yorkshire's, Robert McClements said: "It's been a phenomenal first event.

We have been able to share so much knowledge with our US counterparts.

They came to show us how to do it and decided that we had an equal contribution to make towards their own development.

The unexpected but welcome outcome is that PINC has agreed to become a partner with Print Yorkshire so that we can progress our expertise and understanding of this great industry from both sides of the Atlantic.".
