Green Awareness Seminars For Yorkshire Printers
Print companies in Yorkshire and Humber are being invited to free awareness seminars, which focus on good environmental management practices in January 2005.
The grant was applied for by Print Yorkshire's Training and Career Development Action Group (TACDAG), which has been working with the Learning and Skills Council, Business and Enterprise South Yorkshire and Thomas Rotherham College, to put together a strategy to help fill the skills gap in the county.
Print Yorkshire's senior executive, Robert McClements, said: "Major investment is taking place across South Yorkshire led by Polestar, Johnston Press and Garnett Dickinson but the industry's continuous investment in new technology has had an impact on the skills levels of those we need to recruit." He added: "With this new careers guidance pack we hope to promote our industry as modern, dynamic and progressive, with varied career choices but well defined vocational and higher level qualifications such as NVQs, diplomas and degrees.
It's essential that we start matching the opportunities in the industry to those people with the right aptitude and potential, who are seeking a rewarding career.".
