Polestar is to support PrintIT!, the industry-wide initiative launched to raise the profile of the printing industry and encourage young people to take up a career in UK printing.

The company will add its recently launched Printdynamics training CD to the PrintIT! Teaching Pack.

The integration of Printdynamics will give a significant boost to the teaching materials that are currently being developed, believes PrintIT! The pack is intended to equip teachers of GCSE Graphic Products with the appropriate educational tools for participation in the PrintIT! nationwide student competition.

Printdynamics is an interactive CD-ROM based training programme designed to help users to understand printing, bringing all the different processes to life.

It includes video, animation, photography and illustrations to explain each printing process.

It covers all stages from design to delivery in an informative and easy-to-use manner, providing a ground-breaking comprehensive insight in to the printing sector, said PrintIT!.

Printdynamics was developed to provide Polestar's employees and customers with a greater understanding of the entire print production process, in light of the vast array of technological changes that have occurred in the industry.

It is also a teaching resource for schools and will fit seamlessly in to the PrintIT! course materials, which will be distributed free of charge to all participating schools, said the organisation.

Barry Hibbert, Polestar's chief executive officer, commented: "It was always our intention that Printdynamics would be an educational tool in schools showing the industry in its true light - modern, progressive and with great career opportunities across a broad range of skills and professions.

Sharing the same objectives, PrintIT! provides a perfect vehicle for Printdynamics to do just that." Martyn Elmy, the chairman of Picon commented: "We are thrilled that the PrintIT! initiative is able to take advantage of the fantastic resource that is Printdynamics.

We are convinced that the CD-ROM kit will be invaluable to teachers and students taking part in the PrintIT! competition, providing an in-depth insight in a vibrant and inspiring manner.

We hope it will help to foster enthusiasm for printing in young people who, as a result, will consider a future career in the industry.

Polestar is a major supporter of PrintIT! and we are very grateful for its help in redefining the image of the printing industry for the next generation.".
