PrintIT! has launched phase two of its website specifically to appeal to educational establishments, teachers and students as PrintIT! progresses to the next stage of its development - communicating with schools.

A special members' area has been launched on the website to enable teachers interested in PrintIT! to access a preview of the teaching pack, which has been curriculum mapped by the Specialist Schools Trust (SST), for the GCSE Graphic Products course.

Teachers and students can also access a short demonstration of Printdynamics, the interactive software that will also be included in the PrintIT! teaching resources.

Other new areas that have been introduced to the PrintIT! website as part of phase two include, news and events, a supporters' page, photo gallery, a glossary of print terminology and a useful links page.

There is a dedicated section for sponsors, supporters and members of the 'Special Interest Group', which is being co-ordinated by The British Association for Print and Communication (BAPC) and The British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF).

That area gives further information on how members can twin with their local schools, and take a more active role in assisting teachers in delivering PrintIT!.

PrintIT! is the industry-backed nationwide educational initiative aimed at year 10 students studying the GCSE Graphic Products course and focussed around a print-centric competition, which challenges students to develop a promotional campaign for The Fairtrade Foundation, the UK Charity of the Year for 2004.

"PrintIT! is really starting to take shape.

Production of the teachers' packs is now complete and with such a high level of interest from schools and teachers, we needed to extend the PrintIT! website to enable them to preview some of the course materials on offer," said Victoria Smith, assistant project manager of PrintIT!.
