Polestar is aiming to shut down one of the five gravure presses at its loss-making Purnells gravure plant amongst a range moves intended to make the 600-employee factory viable.

Polestar is aiming to shut down one of the five gravure presses at its loss-making Purnells gravure plant amongst a range moves intended to make the 600-employee factory viable.

The company said it has already strengthened the financial controls over the business and that it is willing to support the operation if it can achieve annual savings of ?3.5m.

The mix of work has been said to be a problem and price falls have compounded the matter.
