Polestar Superplant Nearer With Sunday Press
Polestar Petty is to install its second new 64-page press in six months as it takes delivery in May 2004 of a four-unit Heidelberg Sunday 4000 press.
A formal 30-day consultation process with unions and employees over the proposal is under way.
It is intended that one of the company's two Heidelberg Web 8 presses will be moved to Polestar Colchester.
This will result in additional job opportunities at Colchester, which Anglia employees may wish to apply for.
The company's CTP and other ancillary equipment will be distributed across the group's other sites.
Group operations director Mike Bartlett said: "In the face of ongoing pressures, the group is continuing its strategy of creating a smaller number of larger sites, to minimise overheads and to achieve better scale and efficiency.
There are also particular issues relating to Polestar Anglia profitability." Subject to the consultation process, it is intended that the company will provide advice and liaison with local job agencies for employees.
