Employees at Polestar Purnell have voted in favour of accepting the revised terms and conditions that will help to restore the company to the profitability and performance levels required There will be approximately 100 redundancies across the business as the changes to be implemented include the merger of the company's finishing and demographic businesses, as well as a reduction in press capacity

Other changes to the working patterns include the move to six-day working for the newly merged finishing business and an increase to seven-day, five shift, working in the pressroom.

Darren Walker, managing director, said: "My management team is delighted that the negotiations with the GPMU and the workforce have been successful.

We are now in a position to move forward and build on our expertise as a leading UK gravure printer and chosen supplier of some of Europe's leading catalogue and magazine publishers." Mike Bartlett, group operations director, added: "We must commend the positive and constructive approach taken by the local and national union representatives as well as the company's employees.
