Polestar has placed a further order with Cerutti, confirming the investment in a third 3.88 metre-wide gravure press for its new green field plant.

The machine will be installed in May 2005 and will join two other presses ordered earlier this year, giving the group the production capacity for over 1.5 billion A4 pages per week it said.

Signing the contract at Drupa with Dr Cerutti, Polestar chief executive Barry Hibbert said: "We have always been convinced of the requirement for this additional capacity as we grow our share of the European magazine and newspaper supplement market.

We are confident that the marketplace will benefit from this latest technology with the high levels of productivity and quality we will be able to offer." At 700,000 square feet, Polestar's new gravure plant will be one of the largest in Europe it claims and it will give the group room for further expansion in all areas when required.
