The Polestar Group has appointed a managing director for its new Sheffield plant.

Andrew Jones has joined from Eminox Ltd, a European manufacturer of truck and bus exhaust and emission control systems, where he is currently managing director.

Aged 43, the majority of Jones's career has been spent with first tier automotive suppliers and it is his significant experience of world class manufacturing standards that interested the Polestar board said the company.

Chief executive Barry Hibbert said: "Andrew has a successful history in the development, implementation and adoption of world class manufacturing standards, which reflect the level of performance and productivity we will require at Sheffield.

We are very much looking forward to tapping into his expertise, which will prove invaluable to the development of the company." With six months before the first equipment arrives at the Sheffield plant, Jones will have a lengthy induction into the both the industry and the Group.

Mike Bartlett, group operations director, said: "The next few months will provide Andrew with the time he needs to become familiar with the industry at large, the group and the print processes, in particular gravure.

In addition, his key tasks will be to recruit his management team and to benchmark best practise in print production across the UK and Europe, within the Polestar Group companies and their peers." Jones commented: "I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to be the managing director of the new Sheffield site and ensure its development into a truly world class manufacturing facility.".
