The Polestar Group has announced a proposal to close Polestar Direct in Leeds (UK).

The company employs a total of 90 staff.

A formal 30-day consultation process with the union and employees over the proposal has begun.

It is intended that two of the company's three web presses will be moved to a Polestar site in Nottingham.

The company said that the move would result in additional job opportunities for which the Direct Leeds employees might to apply, whilst ensuring continued print support for the Nottingham based direct mail site.

Geoff Mordt, managing director of Polestar Direct, said: "I am hopeful that through further discussions with the union we will be able to produce a solution to prevent the closure of the business.".
