Polestar's print management company, Polestar 4c, has signed a contract to handle all brochures and operational print for the group of travel companies which include Cosmosair plc.

Polestar's print management company, Polestar 4c, has signed a contract to handle all brochures and operational print for the group of travel companies which include Cosmosair plc, Cosmos Tourama, Avro PLC, Monarch Airlines and Monarch Aircraft Engineering.

The contract is said to be worth more than £6 million over a three years.

Polestar has printed brochures for Cosmos for a number of years and was one of 20 suppliers considered initially for the wider print management partnership role, in a tender process that lasted 10 months.

From a shortlist of four, the company said it was chosen because its profile best fitted the tender brief, offering manufacturing, operational and financial strength and flexibility and an experienced print management team.

Craig Cherry, head of group UK procurement for the travel group, said: "Polestar was up against serious competition but was a clear winner when it came to delivering what we wanted across the board.

Whilst an agreement of this magnitude and complexity will take a considerable amount of time and effort to integrate, the best way of achieving the benefits and value for both sides is by committing to the long term.

Polestar has shown the degree of commitment we are looking for and as we work together across the group of companies we can learn from each other and build on existing relationships, which all points to a successful and mutually beneficial future." The travel group's criteria when choosing its supplier was multi-faceted, due to the vital nature of the services and the day-to-day management process required.

Over 100 elements were taken into consideration - from company culture, a healthy short, medium and long term financial position, an existing high quality and related customer base, through health and safety, technology, and quality systems, to staff morale and attitude.

Matt Spencer, managing director of Polestar 4c, added: "In addition to new technology and equipment, Polestar has invested heavily in MIS, including its acquisition of httprint, covering control and measurement of quality, productivity, performance, and safety.

This approach is recognised by customers who wish to do business with a company with whom mutual trust, co-operation and interest can develop.".
