The Polestar Group has been welcomed to Sheffield by local MP Clive Betts.

The Polestar Group has been welcomed to Sheffield by local MP Clive Betts Over 40 people attended an informal gathering, hosted by Polestar chief executive Barry Hibbert, to hear Clive Betts discuss Polestar's contribution to the successful regeneration of the city

With its new plant scheduled for completion later this year, Mr Betts went on to say how much the investment by Polestar was valued by the community and how pleased he was by the group's commitment to local recruitment where possible.

I n his presentation, Barry Hibbert confirmed that the plant would initially recruit up to 400 people, but by 2008, was likely to employ 1,500 staff, as the expanded factory would house a total of 12 presses.

He added: "It will be less than 12 months from receiving planning permission for the plant to the company producing its first contractual work, which will be a fantastic achievement to which many people have contributed and is unprecedented in our industry and for that matter, any comparable sector.

That is testament to the great teamwork we have seen between planners, developers, architects and our own team.

With the continued support of those here today, we are confident that we will establish a successful world class printing facility." Representatives of organisations that were instrumental in Polestar choosing Sheffield as the location for its new greenfield gravure printing plant were among the guests, including Yorkshire Forward, Sheffield First for Investment and Renaissance South Yorkshire.
