New Bindery Manager For Polestar Colchester
Polestar Colchester has appointed Alan Monsey as bindery operations manager.
Polestar Colchester has appointed Alan Monsey as bindery operations manager.
He has joined the company from New Jarrold Printing.
Polestar Colchester Managing director Jim Algar said: "As we continue to develop our bindery and commission two new Ferag Unidrum systems, Alan's industry-renown and wealth of experience in bindery operations will prove invaluable and we are delighted to have him on board." Algar has spent his 27-year career at New Jarrold Printing, formerly Jarrold Printing.
During that time, he was involved in all areas of the bindery, from planning, performance and improvement management, through to bindery supervision and operations management.
Commenting on the switch to Polestar, he said: "The role at Polestar Colchester has provided me with a new challenge in a familiar environment.
The substantial investment, including the installation of the Ferag equipment, was also a big draw for me and I am looking forward to applying my experience to this technology, which is new to me and to the company." James Povey, marketing director for UK print at Polestar, added: "Alan's appointment is fantastic news for magazine production at Polestar Colchester.
The plant specialises in time-sensitive production within extremely tight schedules and there is significant focus on bindery performance to achieve targets.
From my experience of working closely with Alan, I am sure that his dynamism and ability to get the job done will bring a lot to our party." In July this year, the Polestar Group announced an investment of £10 million in its Colchester operation.
The company's press capacity has been increased with a new 64-page Heidelberg Sunday 4000 press, due to be operational in April 2005.
It will join five other presses at the plant to provide much-needed extra capacity for the company, which produces over 40 weekly magazines and more than 90 monthlies.
In addition to the two Unidrum systems, the bindery houses four Muller Martini wire-stitching lines, one perfect binder and five mailing lines.
