The Polestar Group has today confirmed the appointment of Stephen Clark as managing director of its new gravure operation, Polestar Sheffield.

He will take up the position at a date to be decided in the next two weeks.

Polestar Group human resources director Catherine Hearn said: "Stephen was one of a number of candidates we approached.

With his extensive industry experience, especially in gravure, he soon became our number one choice." Joining Watmoughs in 1991, Clark was managing director of Varnicoat when the parent company, Watmoughs Holdings, merged with BPC in 1998.

In March 2000, he left the group to take up a position in the USA.

Shortly after his return to the UK in September 2001, he joined Southernprint, where he has been managing director.

On his appointment as managing director of Polestar Sheffield, Clark said: "The managing director's position at Polestar Sheffield represents one the best opportunities this industry has offered for some time.

I'm looking forward to the challenge and making Sheffield a resounding success for Polestar.".
