On his first visit to Polestar Sheffield, group joint managing director of Express Newspapers Martin Ellice has confirmed a new contract with the print group for the continued production of its magazines.

The new contract, which expires in December 2010, covers the weekend supplements for the Saturday and Sunday Express and the Saturday and Sunday Daily Star newspapers as well as two of the publisher's weekly magazines, 'Star' and 'New!'.

Polestar chief executive Barry Hibbert said: "This contract is testimony to the success of our longstanding relationship with Express Newspapers and it reflects our commitment to building on that success with an continuing partnership.

A contract of this nature and duration provides both parties with the opportunity for longer-term planning, which is beneficial when reviewing and allocating resources and investment." Martin Ellice added: "We decided to extend our contract with Polestar due to its long term commitment and investment in the development of its business in the UK.

The fire power this gives our group is phenomenal." The magazines and supplements are printed across Polestar's web-offset and gravure production facilities.
