GMI, a developer and supplier of automated closed loop colour control systems, has sold its fourth Colorquick on-web spectrophotometer measurement tool to The Polestar Group.

The system will shortly be installed at the Polestar Colchester site, with three existing systems already up and running at Polestar Petty.

Colorquick is said to provide accurate ink density data for closed loop control and will be installed on a Goss S4000/64 at Colchester.

It scans the printed web in real time and automatically controls the ink densities, allowing the user to print with real confidence said GMI.

Jim Algar, managing director at Polestar Colchester, commented: "Accuracy and consistency of colour measurement across sites is a key factor for us and Colorquick offers just that.

The product gives us the right tool to ensure that our customers are delivered high quality print that meets all their requirements." GMI's European sales director, David Naisby, added: "A number of major print suppliers are running Colorquick across multiple sites, which I think is testament to the effectiveness of the product.

Polestar is a very forward thinking company and shares our vision of achieving accurate colour managed presses.

In fact GMI is the only supplier in the industry with ISO traceable measurement for use in the digital colour managed workflow." GMI claimed it had seen an increase in Colourquick sales in 2004, with the product being used by most major international printing groups.
