Reed Opts For Polestar's E-Procurement System
Reed Business Information (RBI) has selected Httprint e-procurement from Polestar Applied Solutions to source and procure secondary print associated with its core magazines.
Reed Business Information (RBI) has selected Httprint e-procurement from Polestar Applied Solutions to source and procure secondary print associated with its core magazines.
Initially, the system will be used within the production department but the publisher is also considering its use for other types of print within the business.
RBI parent, Reed Elsevier, is also reviewing the system for other parts of the group.
RBI has chosen the Httprint system over other e-procurement platforms as the product offers all the features it required, with associated services building upon a strong existing partnership between the publisher and Polestar.
Additionally, following trials against other products, the Httprint system proved to be user friendly and offers good potential to be integrated with RBI's other production and management information systems, said Polestar.
Peter Regis, print and distribution director of RBI, said: "We looked at some very good systems when deciding on who to use and Httprint met all of our requirements.
Polestar is a strategic supplier to RBI and the opportunity to develop our relationship further is another great benefit." The Httprint system is claimed to offer users greater efficiency and control, from streamlined internal sourcing and ordering processes, to improved assimilation and reporting of expenditure, thereby serving as a valuable management information tool.
Polestar said that Httprint is now employed by many leading print buying organisations including Williams Lea, Emap and five Virgin businesses.
Over 7500 print buyers use the system across Europe and more than 4,000 orders are transacted through the system every month.
Polestar markets, develops and supports Httprint through its Applied Solutions division.
Paul Seaborn, managing director of Polestar Applied Solutions, said: "We see RBI's take-up as recognition of the strength of the Httprint product, as well as of our wider relationship with Reed Elsevier." He continued: "We are experiencing increased interest in Httprint from a range of organisations.
We consider this to be the result of a general increase in the take up of e-procurement systems for implementing best practice in budget management, combined with the fact that many of the broader e-procurement systems cannot adequately handle the contractual and negotiation aspects of print purchasing.
We are, therefore, capitalising on our experience of integrating Httprint with mainstream e-procurement systems such as Ariba, SAP and Oracle, or providing it as a stand-alone product.".
