The Polestar Group has announced that Mike Young has been appointed managing director of Polestar Sheffield.

The Polestar Group has announced that Mike Young has been appointed managing director of Polestar Sheffield.

He takes up the position with immediate effect.

As project managing director for True North, as it was known in its development stages, Young oversaw the construction and commissioning of the flagship plant from July 2004 until its completion earlier this year.

He has recently had responsibility for operations across the group, a role that has been discontinued with all site managing directors reporting directly to chief executive Barry Hibbert.

Of his appointment, Mike Young said: "Polestar Sheffield is already widely acknowledged to be the leading gravure printing plant in the UK and its management is, therefore, one of the most challenging and exciting roles in the industry.

I am pleased to have gained the experience of managing operations group-wide over the last few months and, as a result, look forward to bringing a range of ideas to Sheffield to capitalise on its success to date." Barry Hibbert added: "Mike knows this plant better than anyone.

He has the respect of its customers, suppliers and employees and we are delighted that he has returned as its managing director.".
