The production of the Toys R Us UK Christmas catalogue at Polestar Sheffield this month marks a return of the contract to the Group and to the UK for the first time in five years.

The 84-page catalogue was printed and stitched at the plant before being distributed to stores across the UK.

Polestar's pitch for the catalogue was fronted by Polestar Applied Solutions, the Group's innovation and technology business that brings together software, print management and mailing service.

Polestar's Business development director Nick White said: "The resources at Sheffield enabled us to put forward an attractive, environmentally friendly and cost effective proposal for bringing this work back to the UK.

By recommending a format that optimised web usage, through a two-up format, we were able to maximise efficiencies on production.

Additional benefits to the costs and schedule were achieved as the majority of the catalogues were enclosed in to publications also produced at the plant." He continued: "With its expertise in providing a total service, Polestar Applied Solutions was able to ensure the work was secured and managed efficiently." The win comes six months after Polestar chief executive Barry Hibbert predicted that the UK will take the top spot as Europe's biggest producer of print within the next five years.

Polestar believes that its facilities continue to attract a number of titles to its plants, with Polestar Sheffield, Polestar Greaves and Polestar Chantry producing the weekend supplements for the Telegraph, some of which were previously printed in Germany.
