Polestar Chantry will take delivery of the equipment later this month, with commissioning scheduled for mid-May.

Further investment for the company includes a new UV coater from Worldwide Graphics, which will be installed alongside the Scheffer system, raising the number of units for cover production at the company from six to eight.

Polestar Chantry's managing director, Lindsay Atkinson, said: "Previously, we have been limited to six colours for covers, but with this additional coater, we can offer the four-colour process with four spot colours.

In the highly competitive market in which we operate, facilities like this help us to stay one step ahead, whilst at the same time offering our customers the opportunity to do so as well." The Scheffer in-line, all-in-one slitter, rotary cutter and trimmer will be fitted to the company's eight unit Heidelberg M 600 press to provide a second dedicated cover production line.

Atkinson added: "Although we have plenty of experience and a good reputation for cover production work, the Scheffer system will provide us with greater flexibility and versatility in terms of sizes, shapes, features and folds that we will be able to pass on to our customers.

We are very excited by the options this investment will add to our portfolio of services." Each Scheffer system is said to be bespoke, with its specification designed to match the requirements of the printing company.

However, its claimed maximum running speed of 180,000 A4, four-page products per hour and a stock weight range between 40gsm and 170gsm complement the equipment of Polestar Chantry's presses.
