Children's Charity Benefits From Polestar's Funds

Just over a year after pledging its support of the Variety Club children's charity in the UK, the Polestar Group has handed over a Sunshine Coach to Endeavour Training.

Just over a year after pledging its support of the Variety Club children's charity in the UK, the Polestar Group has handed over a 'sunshine coach' to Endeavour Training, the organisation nominated by the charity.

The group is also covering the cost of the petrol for the coach for the first year.

Polestar companies around the country have used a range of methods to raise the funds for the coach.

One of the most successful was a calendar produced by Polestar Colchester, which raised nearly GBP5,000.

Other events have included sponsored car-washes, an inter-group football tournament, dress-down days, raffles and prize draws, with prizes donated by suppliers.

On handing over the coach, Polestar chief executive, Barry Hibbert, said: "I am enormously proud and grateful to all those at Polestar and to those who supported them, in raising money for this coach.

Through their creativity, hard work and perseverance, a group of young people will now have the opportunity to enjoy challenges and activities further afield." Endeavour Training provides programmes of personal and social life skills development to help young people engage with education, training or employment and to reach their full potential.

It is particularly successful at working with hard to reach groups, those 'at risk' of exclusion and those already on the edges of society.

Working with a range of voluntary, statutory and commercial organisations, Endeavour brings to the partnerships an approach to personal development for young people, using a combination of methods, which include outdoor challenge activities, environmental projects, ICT and peer leadership training.
