Polestar Colchester has won the RBI supplier of the year award after a successful 12 months during which the company has seen its performance on the account reach an all time high.

In May, RBI signed a new six-year contract with the Polestar Group, securing the production of 22 titles at Polestar Colchester until 2011.

Continuing to develop a relationship that is already over 40 years old is a challenge met by Colchester's customer service team.

The company's customer service director, Donna Peters, said: "During a very difficult year for the industry, with several of our competitors going to the wall, we have continued to strive to beat RBI's expectations no matter what and we are delighted that our hard work in a number of areas has been recognised.

To receive this type of award from a major customer is fantastic." Over the last year, Polestar Colchester has been working with RBI on a supply chain initiative that has delivered benefits to both parties through the creation of one production chain for three titles, said Polestar.

Work is continuing to develop similar schemes for the other RBI titles produced at the plant.

In addition, the account team has been restructured to develop a dedicated customer service team, to ensure the publisher receives the service it deserves.

RBI was highly commended in this year's PPA production awards for our supply chain initiative, which has been achieved working with the Colchester team.
