The Polestar Group has announced the strengthening of its senior operations team with two new appointments.

The Polestar Group has announced the strengthening of its senior operations team with two new appointments.

Catherine Hearn, formerly group human resources director, is taking on a wider role as chief operating officer and will have board level responsibility for Polestar's full manufacturing and printing services.

She will continue to lead human resources as well as health, safety and environmental matters.

Reporting to Hearn is Peter Andreou, who is confirmed as operations director.

In that role, Andreou will have day-to-day management responsibility for Polestar's operational performance, working through the site management teams.

Polestar Group chief executive, Barry Hibbert, said: "The operational side of our business is fundamental to our success.

In many ways, these appointments confirm and recognise the roles Catherine and Peter already play in the business.

We need to consolidate our successes in operational efficiency and take this to an even higher level.

I know I can rely on my home team to do this." Catherine Hearn joined the group and Board in July 2002 from Diageo.

Complementing her role at Polestar, she has worked closely with Proskills, the Sector Skills Council for printing, to promote training skills development in the sector.

Peter Andreou also joined the Group in 2002 from Fujifilm in a broad-based finance role supporting group operations.

Over the last year, he has been at the forefront of driving productivity and manufacturing improvements.
