Polestar Seals 3-Year Deal - Guardian News Stays

A Polestar product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team May 21, 2008

The Observer monthly and weekly magazines in the UK will be printed by Polestar for a further three years in a new contract awarded by Guardian News and Media.

In addition, the newspaper publisher has renewed its contractual arrangements with Polestar for its Guardian Weekend supplement, also for three years.

Polestar Petty is printing the Observer Monthly supplements, which include Food, Sport, Music and Woman, whilst Polestar Varnicoat is printing the weekly Observer Magazine.

The Guardian Weekend magazine is printed at Polestar Sheffield.

Bob Steadman, director of production, distribution and sales at Guardian News and Media, commented: "We have had an excellent relationship with Polestar for a number of years, so the company was an obvious choice when it came to relocating the Observer work.

Polestar has continued to do an excellent job since then and we are very pleased to have formalised these arrangements.

Polestar's category director, Steve Miles, said: "Although our contract for the Guardian Weekend supplement was not due for renewal until the autumn, with the Observer coming on stream, it made sense to review this at the same time and make any necessary adjustments to ensure we could continue to meet the schedule requirements of all our customers.

We are delighted to have strengthened our relationship with Guardian Media Group, in particular on its flagship titles.
