Quark has formed a new relationship with the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) and educational reseller, Ramesys, to supply the page layout and design software, QuarkXPress.

Quark will also supply supporting curriculum for QuarkXPress 7 to the SSAT community at exclusive pricing.

The partnership will allow Quark to work with the SSAT and Ramesys to enhance the existing e-learning credits (ELC) curriculum materials and ensure that all SSAT schools are equipped with the necessary tools to get the most out of QuarkXPress, said Quark.

Mark Green, Quark's education business manager for northern europe, said: "Quark welcomes the opportunity to support the SSAT as much as possible to achieve the goal of improving educational standards and providing all young people with access to a good secondary education." The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) is a national body for secondary education in England, part funded by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES).

The SSAT is the heart of a network of 2,900 affiliated primary, secondary, special schools and academies.

It seeks to give more young people access to a good secondary education by building networks, sharing teaching practices and supporting schools.

Quark said that it is committed to equipping students with the skills needed to improve their future opportunities within the creative and design industry.

The partnership will enable Quark and SSAT to work together and ensure that design software, such as QuarkXPress 7 and Quark Interactive Designer, becomes an integral part of the national curriculum, helping to shaping the future of design within secondary education in the UK.

By working alongside the SSAT premier partner Ramesys, Quark added that it will also support the SSAT's international business partnership network, which is aiding the re-development of secondary education in South Africa.
