Expanding Design Possibilities With Workflow Tools

The company said that designers rely on the XTensions modules (formerly known as Quark ALAP XPert Tools Pro) in their workflow systems.

Making them compatible with QuarkXPress 7 is claimed by Quark to expand the possibilities of what designers can do, as, the company claimed, they will be able to achieve their visions with greater consistency through better scaling, improved guides and text-linking.

Quark XPert Tools Pro provides features such as XPert Findchange that allows designers to transform not just text but also entire documents in a few seconds, it is claimed.

XPert Itemstyles will enable designers to create attractive pages whilst keeping design consistent and the XPert Pilot feature will let them go beyond thumbnails to see large, graphically-rich overviews of their projects, added the company.

Terry Welty, Quark's senior vice president of corporate marketing, explained: "This suite of tools directly answers customers' needs and enables simply better design.

There's tremendous value in these XTensions, especially when they're combined with the powerful features in QuarkXPress 7.

Making them available at no charge is our way of saying thanks to QuarkXPress 7 customers." Other XTensions in Quark XPert Tools Pro designers include XPert Guides to help create and edit on-screen guides with precise control, claimed Quark, together with XPert Scale, that will enable users to scale multiple objects and their contents in a layout.

In addtion, there is also XPert BoxTools, which are said to ease the process of adjusting the size and placement of items, text and graphics.

Quark has also included XPert Image Info, thaty is said to enable designers to access information about pictures and the capabilities for modifying pictures placed in layouts, whilst XPert Pagesets allows users to save frequently used settings in the 'new project' dialogue box as a style.

The creation of custom palettes for quick access to any QuarkXPress function is made possible by XPert Toolbars, said Quark, and XPert Textlink is said to provide a palette for linking and unlinking text boxes and text paths.

- XPert Print will print, or export pages, or spreads as EPS files, and XPert Type will give access and apply common text-formatting options, added Quark.
