Open Publishing And Content Management Software

Integrated publishing and content management software is to be developed by Quark in partnership with Alfresco.

It is claimed that the new partnership will enable Quark and Alfresco to provide content management and publishing systems based on open standards that will enable integration with an organisation's existing business system.

Quark added that publishers will benefit from Quark and Alfresco's combined technologies, which are scalable, easy to deploy and enable real-time collaboration and timely content provision.

The company said that with its 15 years of workgroup publishing experience it has designed such products as Quark Publishing System 7 (QPS 7) to streamline the editorial and creative workflow processes whilst improving production.

Meanwhile, the company said that Alfresco, an open source alternative for enterprise content management (ECM), couples the innovation of open source with a stable system.

John Powell, the chief executive officer and co-founder of Alfresco Software, explained: "We are seeing tremendous adoption across publishing, media and government sectors.

This is being driven by the need to efficiently repurpose content for today's dynamic publishing market.

Through this collaboration with Quark, we will be able to offer media and publishing organisations the opportunity to use a robust and enterprise scale solution at an affordable price."
