Quark's new Interactive Designer 1.02, an updated version of Interactive Designer that is said to be compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.

The company claimed that Interactive Designer 1.02 follows last November's release of QuarkXPress 7.31, a maintenance release of the design software that is optimised for Mac OS X Leopard.

The software features interactive buttons, animations and pre-defined actions for changing pages, playing sounds, sliding objects and creating interactive menus.

The Interactive Designer 1.02 update is free for existing Interactive Designer users and can be downloaded from the Quark European website.

Quark added that Interactive Designer 1.01 continues to offer Microsoft Windows users updated software and functions.

Interactive Designer is available to buy as a stand-alone product, or is available bundled with QuarkXPress 7 and Quark XPert Tools Pro.

Tim Banister, Quark's general manager for QuarkXPress, commented: "Interactive Designer 1.02 now offers designers Flash authouring capability that works in conjunction with QuarkXPress 7.31.

Mac users working with Leopard will find Interactive Designer valuable, not only because it allows for the creation of Flash layouts without writing code, it also enables users to re-purpose print work for the web and offers innovative design functions.".
