Ifra Boosts Colour Systems' Sales

The Ifra Expo 2005 in Leipzig was very successful for the IRS colour register and IDS colour measurement and control systems produced by Q I Press Controls.
The company said that 15 orders were taken on the busy stand for projects in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Norway, Latvia, Great Britain, the United States and Iran, for a total amount of 5m Euros.
Orkla Trykk, newspaper printers from Norway, shook hands with Q I on a deal for the installation of the colour density mark-free colour measurement and control system IDS, for its eight new MAN Cromoman towers in Allesund.
The equipment will be installed in May 2006, after the printing plant has been extended with the new press and fully modernised.
The most important reasons why Orkla Trykk chose to have the closed-loop IDS from Q I Press Controls after an intensive period of orientation and comparison, were its concept, its flexibility and the future possibilities of IDS.
Orkla Trykk will be the first printers in Norway to use a colour register system without markings, said Q I and together with the IRS colour and cut-off register system already ordered from Q I Press Controls, a high level of automation and efficiency will be achieved.
To extend the IRS colour register system acquired at the beginning of this year, Centro Stampa Quotidiani SpA in Erbrusco has now also opted for the IRS cut-off and sidelay register for both ABB-driven Wifag rotary machines.
The savings in waste, the more stable register quality and the short payback time of the investment convinced Centro Stampa's technical manager Dario de Cian to choose the IRS system.
Calculations show that extension with the IRS automatic cut-off and sidelay register will deliver extra savings and quality improvements.
The flexibility of the Q I Press Controls systems, whereby the IRS register system works with the same colour density marks for all applications, makes expansion very simple said the company.
Q I added that the IRS register system is making Q I Press Controls the market leader in more countries.
Besides Europe, North America, India, China, Australia, Japan and the Middle East are growth markets for the system and it is also beginning to become increasingly popular in Italy.
