Special attention will be paid to the Intelligent Density System (IDS), a closed-loop system for colour quality control for printing companies aiming to print 'true colours', said the company.

Menno Jansen, the chairman of Q I Press Controls, said: "The IDS system is highly innovative, enabling colour stability, not only during a single production, but all the time, even on different presses and locations.

The unique aspect of the IDS is that the system does not use any marks, but measures the colours inside the printed image and then compares them to the reference colours of the TIFF data." He added: "Unaffected by environmental influences, this will make the printed colours 'true colours', true-to-life and exactly as the customer would like them." The results achieved by the first users of the IDS are claimed to be better than expected.

According to the commercial and newspaper printers who are already using the system, they have made a giant step forwards, towards 'lights out printing', said Q I.

Jansen explained: "The IDS takes over tasks from the pressmen, enabling them to concentrate more on press control at a higher level.

This is a significant advantage given today's advanced presses and the high quality requirements set by customers.".
