Colour Control Cuts Waste And Ensures
Run Quality
Druckerei Vetters' MAN Roland Polyman press is to be fitted with Q I Press Controls' IDS automatic colour control system in Radeburg (Germany).
The IDS was chosen by Druckerei Vetters because the system is innovative and forward-looking and because it will give the company a technical advantage over its competition, said Q I Press Controls The IDS will be installed on the 16-page Polyman web offset press, which completed its first print run back in November

Technical director at Druckerei Vetters, Gerd Helwig, said: "We are very impressed with the IDS.
The innovative nature and unique possibilities of the system are very much in-line with our ambition to be the best in the market and always be in front from a technological point of view." He explained: "There were four reasons why we opted for the IDS.
It reduces waste by automatically regulating the colours during start-up, it guarantees consistent quality throughout the entire production run, it enables us to make more efficient use of our personnel and we want to print repeatable colours.
Mainly for this reason we opt specifically for the IDS." And Helwig added: "With Q I Press Controls' technology, which enables the IDS, contrary to the customary systems, to measure the CIELab values of the colours in the net image and compare them with the original, we can do just that.
The fact that this technology does away with the need for auxiliary marks or reference dots is a huge added advantage." Druckerei Vetters has been involved in a collaboration with Q I Press Controls for the last seven years and Helwig commented: "Besides having great faith in the products, we are also extremely impressed with the organisation." Erik van Holten, managing director of Q I Press Controls, said: "This order is very important for us.
We have installed the IDS on various different types of presses but this is the first time that we will install the system on a MAN Roland Polyman.
This will be a new learning curve for Q I Press Controls and it will enable us to fine tune the IDS further still.
There has always been considerable interest in the IDS and it is now being converted in to orders.".
