Johnson Printing, in Colorado (USA), the Greenfield Daily Reporter, in Indiana and Dome Printing, based in Sacramento, California, have all invested in Quadtech press ancillaries.
The common factor amongst all three purchases is the Quadtech Icon platform, which has proved successful in the US market.
Thanks to the Icon platform, press operators can access the automated control systems from a single, centralised and easy-to-use operator control station, said Quadtech.
That will present an advance for all three companies towards a 'lights out' pressroom, where completely automated presses can be left to run continuously, added the company.
Johnson Printing has installed a Quadtech Register Guidance System with Multicam on its Process King press.
The company, which prints magazines, catalogues, guides, directories and books, invested in the equipment to improve registration consistency and cut down on waste.
Mike Olson, plant manager at Johnson Printing, commented: "The nature of our business is such that we're always on the lookout for opportunities to improve product quality and achieve cost reductions.
The Register Guidance System helps us deliver the consistent quality our customers require, whilst also bringing improved make-ready efficiency and waste reduction to our operation." The Greenfield Daily Reporter has installed a Register Guidance System with Multicam and a Quadtech Ribbon Control System with Multicam on its DGM press.
The company prints four daily newspapers, as well as books and newsletters.
Joe Simpkins, [production manager of the Greenfield Daily Reporter, commented: "As we grow, we are looking to increase revenue by cutting down on waste.
The Register Guidance System will free our operators to work on the ink and water balance.
The Ribbon Control System helps ensure that copy running across adjacent pages is perfectly aligned throughout the run.
With the use of split doubles on the increase this is essential." Dome Printing installed a Register Guidance System with Multicam, a Ribbon Control System with Multicam and a Quadtech Colour Control System on the company's M110 press.
Dome is a one-stop shop, whose services include pre-press, web and sheetfed printing, binding (including perfect binding and saddle stitching), mailing and logistics fulfilment operations.
Andy Poole, vice president of manufacturing at Dome Printing, commented: "We have seen a 50 per cent decrease in make-ready times, significantly raising levels of productivity.".
