Spanish Newspaper Improves Register Control

Award-winning Spanish newspaper publisher Diario de Noticias, has ordered a Quadtech Register Guidance System with Multicam and the Ribbon Control System with Multicam, for its Pamplona plant.

Both systems will run on the Icon platform.

Diario de Noticias, which produces a self-titled tabloid newspaper, is upgrading an existing MAN Uniset 65 newspaper press.

In buying the Quadtech systems to modernise its register control the company hopes to see reduced waste copies and a stabilised web during production.

Jon Barriola, general manager at Diario de Noticias, commented: "We've known Quadtech for a very long time and its products have a good reputation throughout Europe.

MAN Roland has supported the idea of adding these Quadtech products to our system to increase reliability and cost-effectiveness." He added: "We are a relatively young and dynamic company and you are only as good as the technology that you have on hand.

The Multicam camera is low maintenance, without needing bulb replacements and it has reduced cleaning cycles.

It will stay locked on to marks during tension upsets, such as start-ups and splices.

The company, established in 1994, has a daily circulation of 30,000 and is published by Zeroa Multimedia, which also publishes the daily newspaper DEIA.
