The new version of Quickcut's print and production workflow software was previewed by the company at Newstec in the UK, several months ahead of its worldwide launch later this year.

The new software - Quickprint 5 - is claimed to be the world's most advanced method of preparing files for print.

It is said to enable users to create, validate, colour manage and deliver files within one system.

Quickprint 5 also contains a number of improvements with the Adobe PDF Library been built in to the product for the first time and which is available on both Mac and PC platforms.

The new version is equipped with one-click validation tools that can identify file problems and typically fix them automatically.

A desktop-based application, Quickprint 5 draws upon Quickcut's updated database of global press specifications to create files that are perfect first time, said the company.

Joe Jarrett, the chief executive officer of Quickcut for the UK, ireland and Europe, said: "We know that Quickprint 5 is at least two years ahead of any competing product because of its ability to capture variable unique printing specifications and guide artwork at its creation.

It remains the world's best workflow tool for preparing files for print.

The application will not only reduce workloads but guide users through the many pitfalls that plague pre-press production with little or no margin for error.".
