Software Manages And Controls Plot Production
Ratio has released the new version of its plot management and cost control software Plotbase PM.
For that reason Repro Husser decided to implement new workflow system in the production process.
Lean production workflows and a short reaction time to customers' demands whilst keeping flexibility and quality were the main focus.
The equipment used at Repro Husser consists of one TDS800 for mono output, a low volume mono plotter for back-up purposes and several different inkjet plotters from HP for colour output.

City Printing Goes To Town With Xerox Digital
London's City Printing has invested ?115,000 with Litho Supplies to install a Xerox Docucolor 5252, making it the first DC5252 to be installed in the London area by Litho Supplies.
After evaluating different output management software from different manufacturers the decision for Ratio's Plotbase PM was unanimous.
The system was the only package connecting all output devices with native drivers under one flexible user interface and, furthermore, no system was as flexible, fast and feature rich, said the company.
Another argument in favour of Plotbase PM was that the system will also support future engines no matter what brand.
The Plotbase PM was installed on a central server at Repro Husser.
All colour plotters and the mono engines were connected to the Plotbase PM central print server software.
An Office printer was connected to the system to automatically print out order pages, as well as job completion sheets.
The defined workflows have been implemented in to the daily work of Repro Husser.
All print jobs arrive at Plotbase PM, where Plotbase automatically prints an order confirmation sheet to the connected office printer.
From there the jobs are printed automatically, or are distributed manually to the different mono and colour plotters as desired.
Urgent colour print jobs can be split automatically to multiple colour engines to reach top performance, said Ratio.
With Plotbase PM customer billing and post calculation of projects at Repro Husser is done almost automatically with the embedded cost calculation module of Plotbase PM.
Kilian Bossert, IT specialist at Repro Husser, said: "With Plotpase PM we have found a system to connect all our mono and colour hardware to one central software system.
This allows us to speed up our internal processes dramatically and to have one consistent workflow, no matter what kind of file should be printed or what kind of engine should is used." And he added: "Next to that, Plotbase PM allows us to produce consistent quality with all connected mono and colour plotters.
All engineering file formats are supported in their latest versions and can be printed in perfect quality on all connected engines.".
