US Printing Franchise Opts For Polyester CTP

The Allegra Network printing franchise has again selected RIPit's Pro Poly CTP and OpenRIP Symphony workflow system for all of its print centres using offset presses.

The Allegra Network printing franchise has again selected RIPit's Pro Poly CTP and OpenRIP Symphony workflow system for all of its print centres using offset presses.

The Pro Poly 300 In-Line [portrait format] CTP system is claimed to allow users to take control of customers' digital files and output high resolution polyester plates, film and colour accurate proofs.

RIPit 300 In-Line CTP Systems are driven by OpenRIP Symphony, featuring a workflow that is said to increase pre-press production and allows every device to be driven.

RIPut300 CTP systems integrate a Speedsetter 300 or 300 x 2 imagesetter, a custom bridge and a hinged Vastech plate processor.

RIPit Pro Poly CTP Systems are also available in a two-Up landscape format.

OpenRIP Symphony is a software RIP.

In addition to driving over 100 output devices, such as imagesetters, platesetters, laser printers, inkjet printers and plotters natively, it can also control a range of PostScript and TIFF-in devices, including digital copiers and digital presses from a single interface, said the company.

OpenRIP Symphony features the Adobe PostScript 3 interpreter for compatibility with modern graphics applications.

It integrates scanning, trapping, proofing, and imposition in a single package, and provides those features to any output device that can accept PostScript or TIFF files, said RIPit.

OpenRIP Symphony is also said to automate screening settings, trapping, plate templating, imposition (including crop marks, registration marks, colour bars, and page information) and application of linearisation and dot gain compensation.

Once the customer has applied standard workflow profiles, or print queues, in OpenRIP Symphony, any number of jobs can go through the same workflow processes, depending on the queue chosen, it is claimed.

Available features for OpenRIP Symphony include monitor preview, rasterview, scan to plate, Koolkolor inkjet proofing, In-RIP trapping with Trapzone, Striprite raster imposition, Perfectblend hybrid screening technology, OpenRIP remote RIP control, Exportoroof soft proofing and CIP3 Support.

The newest version of OpenRIP Symphony includes a what is described as a simplified colour management feature, pre-flight enhancements, TIFF input and an expanded set of Perfectblend AM/FM hybrid screening choices for offset printing, as well as enhanced features specifically designed for flexographic printing applications.
