Riso UK's HC5000, said to be the world's fastest sheet-fed full colour A3 inkjet printer, has won BERTL's 'Best Award for Innovation'.

Riso UK's HC5000, said to be the world's fastest sheet-fed full colour A3 inkjet printer, has won BERTL's 'Best Award for Innovation' The printers has also been given by the Buyers Laboratory Inc (BLI) a 'BLI Recommended' rating, based on independent product testing

Following independent tests of the machine carried out by BERTL, the organisation has recognised the HC5000 with an innovation award due to its potential to open up an entirely new market segment for low cost digital colour printing, especially for the commercial printer, CRD and print for pay marketplace.

The HC5000 was selected after analysis of other digital imaging devices, software and management utilities in the global marketplace.

Based on a two-month laboratory evaluation of 14 performance parameters, BLI's now 'recommends' of the HC5000 for monthly volumes of up to 75,000 impressions.

During the evaluation, the HC5000 completed the 125,000 impression durability test without a single misfeed or product service requirement, said Riso.

That performance resulted in the machine being awarded an 'excellent' rating for reliability and, in Riso's opinion, that sets the machine apart from traditional competing machines, as paper jam situations are a feature of most other printers.

The HC5000 was tested for colour and black print quality, print productivity, ease of use, administrative utilities, feedback to workstations, ease of network set-up, print drivers, applications compatibility, feature set, security and accessibility features.

Ink yield and value were also assessed, and the machine received positive ratings for all the parameters, added the company.

Richard Thompson, the managing director of Riso UK commented: "These verdicts by the two highly respected industry organisations validate what we have been saying all along.

We are challenging the traditional high investment colour print sector by providing a real solution.

The HC5000 is a unique product in the market today." The HC5000 offers a claimed print speed of up to 105 A4 pages per minute and a monthly duty cycle of up to 250,000 pages.

With a claimed cost per page that is equivalent to mono printers.
