Rolls Royce Benefits from Quality Paper
and Print
Premium printer Hampton Printing (Bristol) was chosen to print the Rolls Royce Phantom Brochure and the brochure has won an award at Sappi Printer of the Year.
The 2007 Edition portrays the Rolls Royce Phantom in full glory with beautifully crafted images and print set on superior coated paper to create a synergy that is Rolls Royce Full colour print with two special colours inks combined with spot gloss and matt UV varnish created this striking brochure, brought to life by Hampton Printing of Bristol

Thousands of printers across Europe are about to get a surprise one of these days, according to Robert Horne Group.
"We feel that these are essential accreditations for large corporate users such as Rolls Royce and indeed for the sustainability and creditability of the industry in today's market".
Chris Cooper added, "The theme and feeling of the brochure is of class and luxury".
"The literature had to portray the image of Rolls Royce in both style and quality - based on the superior surface, printability, availability and cost - that I felt would give the best image representation and enhance the mood - we chose Hello Silk 170gsm from Robert Horne".
"The paper required vital credentials to fill the demanding print and conversion processes".
"It needed to have excellent drying times to reduce wastage and increase productivity and it needed to have a good surface which would enhance the use of metallics, foils and varnishes".
"Ultimately, it required a strength of character to withstand all the differing processes from ink to thread binding whilst maintaining superior levels of print quality synonymous with Hampton Printing and Rolls Royce - Hello was the perfect solution".
Hello was also selected in 2006 for the Aston Martin Brochure, which again due to technical high standards of printing, required a stable paper.
The brochure won the Bronze Award in the 2006 Sappi Printer of the Year awards.
With Hampton Printing selected, they set about creating and testing the images for Rolls Royce.
Careful discussion and pre-production planning prior to scanning and Sublima screen preparation, dot gain allowances and tonal range was paramount.
From machine proofing through to the main production run, the utmost care was taken to produce the best possible images.
The use of accelerated pigments and driers in the inks, stack heights and stack standing time before wrapping for transportation, was crucial.
Chris Cooper talks about the challenges of the job, "The photographs have lots of detail covering the full tonal range from very dense blacks to extremely highlighted areas".
"It was quite a feat to hold all that on the sheet".
"The brochure was printed on the new Heidelberg XL".
"Heidelberg has always been considered the 'Rolls Royce' of the printing world and the new XL is their next generation flagship press".
"Our XL presses have six printing units and dedicated analox coating unit".
"The extended delivery has the new generation DryStar 3000 unit which together with the coating unit enables us to print extremely high quality work, with different finishes, without marking and avoids any distortion of the sheets".
"The XL press can run at speeds of up to 18,000 impressions an hour, even at these high speeds, when used in conjunction with the image control system every sheet is monitored and printed to the highest possible quality".
