Ricoh Introduce Wide Format Machines
Ricoh has launched the FW770 and FW780 wide format copiers, capable of producing high quality 1:1 copies of virtually any format up to and including A0.
First 60ppm-75ppm Copier-Printers From Ricoh.
What are claimed to be the first 60ppm and 75-ppm copier-printers to simultaneously scan both sides of an original from an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) are now available in the UK from Ricoh.
The unit has been developed by Ricoh and GBC, the manufacturer of document presentation systems and it has been adapted to bolt on between the mainframe and finishing unit of Ricoh's Aficio 2090 and 2105 machines.
Previously, such high-end functionality has only been available on larger and considerably more expensive machines said Ricoh.
The company said it is aggressively targeting competing machines from Heidelberg and Xerox by offering high volume customers what it believes to be a more cost-effective product.
The Streampunch is said to operate at the same speed as the printer engine, so output is never compromised.
Providing an on-demand response for customers, the device can be de-activated at the touch of a button, allowing the paper to travel straight through when punching is not required.
The unit supports up to six customer replaceable die sets enabling users to produce a wide variety of ready-to-bind documents, claimed Ricoh.
The die sets are also fully compatible with five of the most popular patterns - Colorcoil, Comb Bind, Wirebind, Velobind and four ring.
Ricoh product manager, Mark Griffin, believes that users will find the new Streampunch an invaluable addition to Ricoh's range of high-volume finishing options, which already include a booklet finisher, trimmer, book-fold and cover sheet interposer.
He commented: "Punching documents manually can be a labour-intensive task and many of the existing on-line solutions are expensive and take up valuable floor space.
The Streampunch provides copy shops and CRDs with a more viable solution at a fraction of the cost of those offered by the likes of Heidelberg and Xerox.
Offering GBC's industry leading technology will also differentiate Ricoh from Canon and Kyocera Mita in an already crowded market." GBC said the Streampunch is now available at a cost of £9,995.
