Legal Obligations On E-Documents Prompts US Deal
With increasing regulatory compliance high on the agendas of businesses across the UK, the technology market is saturated with document management systems claiming to fulfil legislative obligations.
With increasing regulatory compliance high on the agendas of business directors across the UK, the technology market is saturated with document management systems claiming to fulfil legislative obligations.
However, concerns are now being raised that many document management vendors are offering 'quick-fix' solutions that fail to live up to the customers' requirements and only deal with half of the problems a company has to face claimed Ricoh UK.
To guarantee the deployment of a system that helps growing businesses to manage documentation in line with regulatory compliance, Ricoh UK has announced a strategic partnership with Laserfiche, the US document imaging software company.
Under the agreement, businesses will be able to purchase scalable document management software through Ricoh's network of resellers, combining Laserfiche's software with Ricoh's MFP technology.
According to Steven Pearce, product manager with Ricoh UK, the partnership has been developed to offer a more viable alternative to the options currently available to expanding businesses.
"Partnering with Laserfiche will allow Ricoh UK's customers to benefit from truly scalable document management solutions, to match both their current size and planned expansion.
Both parties have extensive experience in their respective markets and have formed a dedicated support division to enable customers to interact with us on a level that we have never previously been able to offer.
The track record and success of both parties in conjunction with added support means that growing businesses can put their faith in us to deliver on our promise of scalable, compliant, total document management," said Pearce.
Laserfiche said it had already started to transfer the US approach to the UK through working with a number of high profile clients across the finance sector.
One such company is Bank of Scotland International, which shares nearly one million customer documents among its remote offices and is using Laserfiche's enterprise paperless office system to provide its 225 staff with online access to customer information, eliminating the old system of faxing queries.
Ranald Caldwell, Bank of Scotland International's director and head of operations, said: "Laserfiche will reduce our processing costs, improve disaster recovery and clearly enhance customer service.
We forecast a full project payback within two years.".
