The introduction of five new devices has seen Ricoh UK bolster its colour capable MFP range.

The introduction of five new devices has seen Ricoh UK bolster its colour capable MFP range.

In the company's opinion, the new machines allow businesses of any size to produce cost effective colour documents in-house.

The latest announcement extends the reach of Ricoh's present range to provide claimed mono output speeds of between 24 to 45 pages per minute, as well as a colour output range from 10 to 35 pages per minute.

The extended range offers more users the benefits of colour without sacrificing the speed or cost advantages associated with mono machines, said Ricoh.

"Traditionally, access to colour on MFPs has been limited to a handful of devices providing little choice or flexibility, especially for smaller businesses," commented Ricoh's product manager, Eddie Hall.

"Previously, many companies had to opt for the expensive alternative of outsourcing their colour requirements, often ordering larger batches than necessary just in case extra copies were needed in the future.

The ability to create those documents in-house now means that businesses can print on-demand, keep costs lower and reduce the amount of space taken up by surplus documentation," he added.

Ricoh said it has also recognised the needs of heavy duty users by extending its range upwards and introducing faster output speeds.

The Aficio 3245 provides access to claimed mono and colour output speeds of 45 and 35 pages per minute respectively.

The new MFPs all offer a range of security capabilities, which have previously been unavailable to small user groups.

Using their existing Windows network login infrastructure, businesses can prevent both unauthorised machine use and restrict colour usage.

In addition, organisations can avoid information leaks by encrypting all data communication to and from the MFP or installing Ricoh's Data Overwrite Security software to erase any data left on the device's hard disk drive overnight, added the company.

As with all Ricoh devices, the MFPs have been developed with the environment in mind.

Not only do the new devices carry the Energy Star logo for energy efficiency but they all use polyester x polymerisation toner, which requires less energy to produce particles than its conventional counterparts, significantly reducing the device's carbon emissions claimed Ricoh.

Hall believes that Ricoh's colour capable range now provides a solution to suit the needs and budgets of all companies: "With more and more businesses demanding colour output, the uptake of colour capable devices across all sizes of business is growing.

By expanding our range, we are bringing all the benefits of such technology to a much wider audience and proving once again that Ricoh is pioneering the colour capable market.".
