What are claimed to be the first 60ppm and 75-ppm copier-printers to simultaneously scan both sides of an original from an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) are now available in the UK from Ricoh.
It has been developed to offer SMEs and enterprise workgroups cost-effective access to colour print output without sacrificing the speed of mono machines or incurring the costs associated with dedicated colour devices, said the company.
"Sensitivity towards printing costs has grown considerably over recent years as businesses are utilising colour output in everyday work," commented Helen Berentzen, senior product manager with Ricoh UK.
"The low box-price of desktop colour printers has led to increasing numbers of printers being purchased impulsively, without due consideration of the running costs.

Aiming To Hit Competitors With Lower Cost Punching
Ricoh is boosting the functionality of its high volume range with the launch of an on-line punching system.
However, the high costs associated with operating these machines mean that they are often responsible for a sharp rise in organisations' print spend," she added.
The Aficio CL4000 is said to offer a variety of management features to allow businesses to increase control over the printer's running costs.
Integrated software such as Web Image Monitor and Smart Device Monitor enable IT managers and network administrators to set user privileges, obtain job statistics and monitor the status of networked peripherals through common web browsers, providing the information required to determine where potential cost-savings can be made.
Email alerts inform users or groups when situations occur that need to be addressed, such as low toner.
In addition, savings can be made on outsourcing colour documents as the CL4000, which has duplex as standard, can also handle paper weights up to 216gsm from all feeder trays, added Ricoh.
The CL4000 can be connected to Ricoh's new IS200e A4 colour scanner, providing scan direct to print for occasional copying needs.
The scanner can be networked to up to 99 separate printers for use in this way.
The company added that access to basic multifunctional capabilities is suitable for areas where copying is a secondary requirement.
"With increasing numbers of organisations looking for more economical ways to maximise their printing facilities, total cost of ownership is playing a greater role in driving people's decision to buy.
Colour capable technologies offer businesses a more cost-effective option and the Aficio CL4000 is the ideal addition to any office seeking high speed business colour output at a low cost," said Berentzen.
The Aficio CL4000 is available now, priced from £1,895 RRP.
