Ricoh is embarking upon what it has described as an aggressive marketing strategy to boost its profile in the UK.

The move is being spearheaded by Chas Moloney, who was recently appointed as associate director of marketing, and marketing communications manager, Kristiane Bottom.

They have joined Ricoh from Canon and Lanier, respectively and will work closely with the marketing team to boost the company's brand profile in key markets.

The company has already signed a number of sponsorship agreements in recent months, including the Ricoh Arena in Coventry and a deal with business publisher VNU to become the headline sponsor for the 2005 Computing Awards.

Moloney is now looking to fill three newly created positions on his team to further improve the company's communications with its core channels.

The roles are all for marketing managers in the direct and dealer channels as well as the company's service division.

Molony explained: "There needs to be a shake up and we want to lead the new order by building upon our leadership in MFDs and stealing away market share in other sectors.

The ability to tailor documents to bespoke requirements provides a great platform - now we must capitalise on it to boost our business.

We have the products, innovation, quality and customer service track record to make real inroads in the business printer and high volume sectors, as well as enabling more businesses to access affordable office colour through our colour capable range.

Ricoh is the eighth largest IT company in the world and the number one MFD manufacturer in the UK and we plan to make a lot more noise about it.".
